Artis Senior Living Breaks Ground on Four Assisted Living Communities

MCLEAN, Va. – December 3, 2015 – Artis Senior Living announces the groundbreaking of four assisted living communities in the Midwest and Northeast, including Branford, Conn.; Elmhurst, Ill.; Green Township, Ohio; and Reading, Mass. Combined, these projects will accommodate over 270 seniors affected by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

The communities in Branford, Elmhurst, and Green Township are comprised of four distinct “neighborhoods” that create a smaller, familiar setting, which includes a living room den, a residential kitchen, and a dining room where meals are served. These neighborhoods connect to a “Town Center” that features a health center, a community center, a studio, a beauty/barber shop, and access to secure, spacious outdoor courtyards. The Reading community is Artis’ second two-story community, with interior amenities common to all of its communities, as well as the addition of a café in the Town Center.

Influenced and refined by 20 years of operational experience, each new community is thoughtfully designed to enhance residents’ cognition and quality of life by creating a home-like environment that is both nurturing and comfortable. Design features include smaller-scale spaces, residential finishes, and the use of themes for way finding and location recognition.

These new Artis locations will join future communities in Evesham Township, N.J.; Boca Raton, Fla.; and Lower Moreland, Pa.; as well as an existing community in Mason, Ohio.
