Artis Senior Living Breaks Ground on Memory Care Community in Lower Moreland, Pennsylvania
MCLEAN, Va. – May 19, 2015 – Artis Senior Living broke ground this week on a single-story, 34,000 square-foot assisted living community in the Huntingdon Valley neighborhood of Lower Moreland Township. The property, known as Artis Senior Living of Lower Moreland, is adjacent to the Huntingdon Valley Post Office on Welsh Road, less than four miles from Philadelphia.
The future residence will provide 72 memory care suites for seniors affected by Alzheimer’s and various forms of dementia. The community will be comprised of four distinct “neighborhoods” that serve as intimate living spaces. These neighborhoods connect to a “Neighborhood Square” that boasts an apothecary center; a community center; an art studio; a beauty/barber shop; and access to secure, spacious outdoor courtyards lining a wooded retreat near the Pennypack Trail.
Influenced and refined by 20 years of operational experience, the new residence is thoughtfully designed to enhance residents’ cognition and quality of life by creating a home environment that is both nurturing and comfortable. Design features include smaller-scale spaces, residential finishes, and the use of themes for wayfinding and location recognition.
This groundbreaking marks the fourth community to be developed by Artis. Artis Senior Living of Lower Moreland will join future communities in Evesham Township, N.J. and Boca Raton, Fla.; as well as an existing community in Mason, Ohio. Artis is anticipating a grand opening in September 2016.
